A booklet offering a Christian response to the worldwide bestseller The Da Vinci Code has been written by Alpha speaker Nicky Gumbel and is to be published in March 2006. The booklet looks at the claims made by author Dan Brown and the evidence of the 'Q' document, the Dead Sea Scrolls and other sources. Nicky concentrates on Brown's central argument that the Gnostic Gospels are the earliest Christian documents, providing a useful summary of the Nag Hammadi documents (discovered in Egypt in 1945) and in particular the 'Gospels' of Thomas, Philip and Mary. He concludes, 'The truth about Jesus is so much more wonderful and exciting than the myths.'
