The themes of the conference were a vision for inter-church co-operation and overseas mission work, the training of leaders, the dangers of adopting standard packages in areas such as the ministry of women and spiritual gifts, the need to draw on the strengths of Brethren traditions, and the openness of independent congregations to other Christian groups and fellowships.
