Review by James Christopher Monger
The third studio album from Grammy-nominated, self-described liturgical post-rock collective Gungor, led by Denver, Colorado-based singer/songwriter Michael Gungor, I Am Mountain arrives just one year after the lush and sweeping Creation Liturgy: Live. More expansive and experimental than previous outings, the 12-track collection of new material continues to mine themes of faith and the raw emotions that fuel us, but with less emphasis on dogma and more on the journey that one embarks on to both find and maintain that faith, with highlights arriving via standout cuts like the rowdy "God and Country" and the life-affirming title track.
